Jacob's Creek Reserve Shiraz 2004

No surprises with this wine; I expected a certain quality and profile, and got just that. Decanted 90 minutes. The $14 South Australian Shiraz is a deep ruby, full-bodied, 15% alcohol, with aroma notes of cherry, blackberry, plum and prune, flavor notes the same with the addition of black pepper and a resinous variant of oak. The tannins are well-behaved. Excellent mouth-feel and respectable length.
It's not a rave, but I like the wine. Yet another example of a wine that should age, but the
kitchen demands I open something tonight. None went to waste.
Verdict: Does Its Job. |
